Janet Pugh, 64, passed away December 23, 2015. She was born July 16, 1951 to Eugene and Gloria DeMaio in Pittsburgh, PA. Janet graduated from Weber State for her B.A. and the University of Utah for M.A. She married Thomas Pugh in Honolulu, HI on October 25, 1980. Janets life was dedicated to serving others. She went back to college with four young daughters to receive her Masters degree in Social Work. Jan came from a lively Italian family back east where she learned to sing and laugh the loudest. She worked tirelessly for her family, setting an example of a strong, graceful, and brave woman for all that she encountered. She loved cooking, dancing, and camping with the love of her life, Thomas Pugh, and their family. Not only was she compassionate, but she was also an adventurer. Many of the pictures of her are of her hiking through the desert (despite a fear of snakes), camping in her trailer in some forest, or off to wherever her family asked her to go. She never said no. Not just because she loved her family, but also because she leaned into life. The hard times and the fun times. She was one brave woman. Whether it was moving across the country as a single mother to marry a man she only knew for a few weeks, or driving with me when I packed up moy car and moved to Seattle (and daring to leave me there when she saw my first apartment on Capitol Hill ten years on half way house row). The woman was made of steel. And she knew a good life included reliable luggage and a strong constitution. No one left her house without a plate of food and a kiss on the cheek. Janet is survived by Thomas Pugh, Teri Olson and family, Melanie Pugh, Rebecca Shelton and family, Candice Pugh Adams and family; as well as her mother Gloria; siblings Yvonne, Carol, Richard, Tony; grandchildren Noah Olson, Wyatt and Bryn Lee Shelton, and Zeek and Adele Ivory Adams. Janet is preceded in death by her father Eugene and sister Linda. A viewing will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT from 6:00 to 7:30 pm with the Rosary at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 E. 5550 S., Ogden, UT. at 10:00 am. Interment at: Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
