Janet Lee Ohlson Villarruel, age 76, passed away early Saturday morning, May 17, 2025, in her home surrounded by family. She was born January 15, 1949, a daughter of the late Elwood Stanley Ohlson and Marvel Ramona Ohlson.

Janet is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Joseph Villarruel, her two daughters, Carrie Carter (husband Chad Carter) and Alison Thorsted (husband Matthew Thorsted), grandchildren, Jack Thorsted, Mark Thorsted, Luke Thorsted, and sister Suzanne Ohlson-Kenyon (husband Brian Kenyon).

Janet was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. She had a happy childhood with a large extended family on both her mother's and father's side. She met Ronnie at The Canteen dance hall in Washington Terrace, and they also attended Bonneville High School together. They were married on April 4, 1969. She both graduated from and worked for Weber State University as a Training Specialist where she retired in 2007.

Janet had many interests and hobbies. She loved to read, listen to music, garden, cross-stitch, crochet and to spend time with her family. She loved the ocean, which she was able to visit many times throughout her life. She and her husband were able to travel to Paris, France twice and she had so many wonderful memories of those times. She took so many family vacations to various spots in Southern Utah, Yellowstone, California and Oregon.

Janet was such a sweet and caring woman with a sarcastic sense of humor. She had so much knowledge about a variety of subjects because of her curious nature and her love of all types of books. She has left behind a reading collection for her family to enjoy for years to come.

She will be greatly missed by both family and friends. There will be Memorial Services for close family and friends that will be scheduled at a later date.
