Janice Ruth Daley
Puckett
Jan 29, 1945 — Jul 24, 2026
Jan passed away July 24, 2026, surrounded by her family. Janice was born January 29, 1945, in Ogden, Utah.
Jan was preceded in death by her son, Karl Shrodes, and her husband, William “Billy” Puckett.
Jan is survived by her son, Robin (Jennifer) Shrodes; her grandsons, Emerson Shrodes and Everett Shrodes; sisters, Mary Venstra and Kathy Barrett; brother Kelly Kirkpatrick; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jan was raised in Ogden by her grandmother Corley, and her grandfather, railroader and photographer Charles A. “Mac” MacCarthy, known for the book Ogden: The Charles MacCarthy Photographs (Images of America) by Sarah Langsdon.
Jan was a devoted member and former president of the Navy Wives Club in Holy Loch, Scotland. She found purpose and joy in supporting fellow military families. She loved working as an EMT in Charlston, South Carolina, and working for the Weber Ride in Ogden.
Jan had a passion for adventure, travel, movies, reading and was an original Trekkie. Her love of cats and dogs is well known – she’s had over thirty!
Jan will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery next to her husband, Billy, the love of her life. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Jan would prefer donations to ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, or your local animal shelters and rescue missions. Better yet, adopt a new furry friend!
Beam me up, Scotty…
