Jay Lester Moore passed away suddenly on April 29th, 2023, at 79 years old, after surviving numerous accidents and diabetic episodes.
He was born a son of Elaine Harbertson and Lester Moore on August 31st, 1943, in Ogden, Utah.
He served an LDS Mission to the southern states. He had four children of his own: Cherie, Steve, Kodi and Elgin Moore. He married the love of his life, Idella Faye Coburn, on August 23rd, 1983. In doing so, he gained five more children, Tina, Eddy and Mike Dixon, Troy and Bryon King. He then helped raise his two granddaughters, Kylee and Kourtnee King.
Jay was never able to join the military like his father due to suffering a broken neck at the age of 14. He learned his construction skills while working at his fathers construction company. He later shared those skills with his stepsons.
He attended Weber State University for three years. During his time there, he studied theater and took some medical training. He performed as an extra with the Utah Film Association. Jay was also employed with, and retired from, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His most enjoyable job was working as a school crossing guard for Layton city where he prided himself in remembering all of the childrens names.
