JEAN EVANS CRATER Jean Marie Evans Crater, 88, died December 28, 2012 of natural causes at the Legacy House in Ogden, Utah. Jean was born June 7, 1924 in Columbia, Pennsylvania to John Charles Evans and Ida May Fry. She attended elementary through high school in various cities in Pennsylvania graduating twice from high school, Bainbridge High School in her 11th year and Maytown High School in her 12th year. She married Clarence A. "Butch" Crater on November 11, 1942. They just celebrated their 70th anniversary. She worked for the Department of Defense for the Air Force as a civilian employee at Olmstead and Hill Air Force Base retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, The National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, and Lady Shriners International. She enjoyed reading, playing solitaire and traveling. She and Clarence traveled to all 50 states collecting cups from all of them. They also have been to Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and India. She lived in Pennsylvania, Utah and Wyoming where they built a log home in Pinedale, Wyoming. They moved to Utah for health issues in 2010. Jean is survived by her husband Clarence, son John (Barbara), and daughter Sarah (Bruce) Schwab; two sisters, Ruth (Rick) Schena of Alexandria, VA, and Susan Presbruch of Little River, South Carolina as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews mostly in Pennsylvania. She was the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and one great grandchild. Per her request there will be no public viewing or funeral. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. If you so wish, Jean has asked that a donation to Shriners Hospital or Make a Wish Foundation be made in her honor.
