It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Jean Petersen Goodsell. Jean, a lifelong resident of Ogden, Utah, was born on September 21, 1940, to Farrel Morgan Petersen and Avon Hyde, and left this world surrounded by her children on December 3, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of beauty and cherished memories.

Jean attended the local schools in Weber County and graduated from Weber High School. She married the love of her life, Mark Goodsell, on October 28, 1959, and together they raised three boys.

Professionally, Jean dedicated her life to enhancing the beauty of others, working at the Estee Lauder makeup counters in Weinstocks and later Nordstrom at the Ogden City Mall. She was more than just a makeup artist; she was a confidante and friend to her clients, often sharing their life stories as she helped them feel their most beautiful selves. The friendships she gained with coworkers while working at Nordstrom remained some of her most cherished. She rarely missed a Tuesday lunch with her girls!

Jean's love for life extended beyond her work. She was a vibrant soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Jean cherished the moments spent playing cards with family and friends and she could oftentimes be found at the bridge table with her bridge club. Her style was unmistakable, as she never missed an opportunity to adorn herself with her radiant makeup and favorite jewelry, adding sparkle to every occasion. Her big laugh and witty personality will be missed by all who called her friend.

Jean is survived by her adoring sons, Chris (Pam) Goodsell, Kelly (Ramona) Goodsell, and Kevin Goodsell. Her legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her later years. She is also survived by her siblings, Jerry Petersen and F. Lynn (Evaline) Petersen, who will hold dear the memories of their sister.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mark Goodsell, who was undoubtedly there to welcome her with open arms. Her parents and sister-in-law, Kathy Petersen, also predeceased her, leaving a void that was deeply felt.

Jean's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched. As we bid farewell to Jean, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Please join us for a celebration of Jean's life, January 21, 2024, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
