Jean LaVoyle Barnes Hansen passed away on September 13, 2016. She was born in Ogden, Utah on March 9, 1933 to Horace Archie Sr. and Viola May Garner Barnes. She was raised in Ogden, Utah and attended Ogden schools. Jean married Verlan W. Hansen on July 26, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on December 14, 1964. With her husband and childrens encouragement, Jean received her diploma from Canyon High School in Ogden, Utah on July 4, 1984. In 1991 Jean was diagnosed with Scleroderma. She was more recently diagnosed with MDS and Leukemia. Jean was employed and retired from American Linen in Ogden, Utah. Jean was a member of the Roy LDS 12th Ward for many years. She had been a Visiting Teacher, Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher and Relief Society Teacher. When Verlan passed away, she moved to The Gardens Assisted Living Facility where she has lived up until the time of her passing. Jean is survived by her sons, Dale (Ann) and John (Karri); daughters, Rhonda (Tim) Anderson and Carla (Steve) Foggo; sisters, LaVon and Coleta Horspool; 18 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Verlan; son, Craig; parents; baby sister; brother and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to say thank you to Access Hospice, especially Shelby and Shaylee. They would also like to thank Dr. Hemmersmeier and his staff for the care they have provided for the past six years. They would also like to give another special thank you to the past and present staff at The Gardens Assisted Living Facility for their kindness and friendship to our mom, especially to KC Muir for being like a son to our mom. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
