Obituary

Jean "Grandma Honey" Sessions Parker, age 97, passed away on May 10th, 2024. After a day full of love and visits from friends and family, she decided it was time to go.

Jean was born February 24, 1927, in Syracuse, Utah, as the second of nine children. Born to Charles Elmer and May Quick Sessions, she graduated from Davis High School in 1945. In 1946, she was married to Dr. Ray Watson Parker (deceased in 1970) in the Salt Lake Temple. They were together for 24 years, and were blessed with four children: Rahn, Lonna, Margo, and Janet.

She is survived by her brothers Fred and Ben, two of her children Lonna and Janet, her son and daughter-in-law Gene (Margo) and Martha (Rahn), 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, her beloved nieces and nephews, and her cat, Big Boy.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ray, her son Rahn, her daughter Margo, her brothers Merrill and Frank, her sisters Betty, Mary, Esther, and Maisie and her son-in-law, Ralph.

She retired from Hill Air Force Base after working there for many years. She worked with the Young Women's Organization at her church, with the Boy Scouts, the Relief Society, the Primary, and was part of the PTA presidency.

Jean was a seasoned traveler, enjoying taking trips all around the world. She loved traveling to Africa, especially South Africa, which is where her mother's family was from.

Jean was a deeply generous woman, with a stylish personality. She will be remembered for her love of fashion, (including wearing four-inch heels well into her eighties), wearing distinctive hats, and her bold femininity.

The family would like to thank Inspiration Hospice, specifically Katie and Dominga, for all of their help, care, and love.

She will be buried on Friday, May 17. There will be a viewing at Leavitt's Mortuary from 9-10, followed by a graveside service at the Syracuse Cemetery. After that, a celebration of life lunch will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary at 836 36th Street.
