Jeanne A. Harris's Obituary

Jeanne A. Harris June 14, 1932 - March 22, 2015 Jeanne A. Harris passed away peacefully on a beautiful spring day at home with her husband. She was born June 14, 1932 in Ogden, Utah. She was the daughter of Harold and Hazel Taggert Field. She was raised in Roy, Utah and graduated from Weber High School. On July 6, 1950, Jeanne married her lifelong partner, Joseph L. Harris. She was able to travel with him while he was in the Air Force, including time in Germany. Later they settled in Washington Terrace and spent the last 62 years in the home he had built for them. Jeanne had spent the last 25 years volunteering countless hours to the Washington Terrace Senior Center. She made many lasting friendships there. We are especially thankful as a family for two of those friends, Julie and Bev. She was saddened when her health no longer allowed her to go. She loved crocheting afghans, ceramics and line dancing at the center. There was never a family function without her famous potato salad and Christmas never went by without fudge, english toffee and divinity. Jeanne was very proud to have raised three sons and twin daughters and was excited to welcome another set of twin great granddaughters into the family. She loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren equally, regardless of how they entered into the family. She said she was lucky to have been blessed with great kids, but we were the lucky ones to have such great parents. Thank you to her granddaughter for those last trips to Harmons to spend time with her special friend Kathryn; it meant the world to her. Jeanne is survived by her husband Joseph and her four children: Doug Harris (Annette) of Mountain Green, Garth Harris (Sande) of Syracuse, JoAnne Heil (Kevin) of Willard and SuzAnne Child of Washington Terrace; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; also two brothers: Darl and Don and two sisters Faye and Lynn. She was preceded in death by a son Richard, a grandson Joseph, her parents and three brothers.
