Jerry Homer Bruggeman, 88, passed away at Mt. Olympus Care Center in Salt Lake City on March 24, 2024.
He was born in Salt Lake City on January 23rd, 1936, the eldest son of Homer and Margaret Bruggeman.
Jerry served honorably in the United States Air Force and was stationed at many bases around the world. His favorite deployment being Spain.
After his service in the Air Force, Jerry met and married the love of his life Judi Yeager on February 25th, 1961. That union remained until her passing in 1982. He found love once again with Carolyn Liedtke who he married in 1986 until her passing in 2001.
His career started in the Petroleum Industry. Later in life, his love of Boating led him to selling boats which was a job he truly enjoyed and found happiness in.
Jerry was a character in many ways and kept us on our toes. He walked to the beat of a different drummer, having adventure in his soul. His escapades were many, some legendary, while others not so much. He made friends easily and had a bright smile for everyone he met.
His happy place was aboard his boat "The Venture" as captain navigating the beautiful waters of Flaming Gorge. He enjoyed many years there where his passion was, and his soul remains.
Dad, the seas are now calm, and the storms are behind you. You have dropped anchor and you are home. Rest in peace and love.
Jerry is survived by his children Tali (Jim) Colberg, Hal (Tricia) Bruggeman, sisters Sharon (John) Kasteler, Jane (Brad) Mullen, brother Richard (Becky) Bruggeman. He is also survived by his beautiful grandchildren, great grandchildren, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Homer and Margaret Bruggeman, his sister MarKay Swensen, his wife Judi and his wife Carolyn.
His children wish to thank Jerry's sisters, Sharon and Jane for their dedication and care over the last year. A beautiful bond was formed which brought him much peace.
The family also wishes to acknowledge with great appreciation, Mt. Olympus Care and Harmony Hospice for their generous and loving care of Jerry.
A celebration of life will be held in June details pending.
