Jerry Arnold Davis's Obituary

Jerry Arnold Davis was the eighth of 11 children born to John Leonard Davis and Mary Verna Robertson. He was born in Cedar City, Utah on October 2, 1934. He was raised in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1953. He earned degrees from both Weber College and Utah State University, with an MBA from Brigham Young University. He had a 30-year career as a Civil Engineer with Pacific Gas & Electric Co. in San Francisco, California. Jerry was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission as a young man in the Gulf State Mission from 1955-57. He served in the US Army from 1957-59. Jerry married Margaret McDowell on August 10, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and has shown his love for her every day since. They are the parents of nine children. His greatest joy has been found within his family. After retirement, they relocated to Hooper, Utah where Jerry built their dream home. They served two full-time missions together, first in Columbia, South Carolina and later in Riverside, California. Jerry also served as a Service Missionary at the Ogden LDS Wet Pack Cannery for 16 years. Jerry served faithfully in any church calling extended, including the role of Bishop in Fremont, California. Jerry always served and loved others, even when not asked. He saw a need and took action. He loved to work hard and humbly did his best at whatever he did. He left a legacy of kindness, forgiveness and Christ-like love. After a year of courageously fighting lung and bone cancer, Jerry passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family. Jerry is survived by his wife, Margaret; his nine children: Patti (Marc) Lewis, James (Rae Ann) Davis, Paul (Ann) Davis, Steven (Heather) Davis, Janet (Edward) Machado, Kenneth (Kim) Davis, Connie (Richard) Jacob, Wayne (Carina) Davis and Neal (Jessica) Davis; 40 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and five of his ten siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; and one granddaughter. A Viewing will be on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
