Jess Perez, 81, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023 after a short illness. He was born on August 27, 1941, in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Tadeo (Ted) Perez and Mary Lou Florez.
Jess grew up in Ogden and attended Ben Lomond High School. In 1960 he joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1964. He later received an Associates Degree in Accounting from Stevens-Henager College.
He married Kathryn Napoli in Elko, Nevada on August 17, 1966 and lived in Ogden. They moved to Clearfield in 1973 where they raised five children.
Jess worked as an electronics technician at Hill Air Force Base. He retired in 2006.
Jess was an avid sports lover and coached recreational baseball, basketball, and football for over 20 years. He loved to watch college football and the NBA. He also was an accomplished amateur artist and did many window drawings for the holidays along with sketches of airplanes and cartoon characters.
Jess is survived by his son, Ryan (Tracy), daughters Denitt, Staci, Natalie, and Allison; sisters Gloria Perez-Jensen and Angela (Richard) Ford, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathy, brothers Leonard, Robert, and Richard, and nephew Duke Roane.
The family wishes to thank the therapists, nurses, and staff at Pine View Transitional Rehab, Northern Utah Rehab Hospital, Fairfield Village, and especially the doctors and nurses at McKay-Dee ICU.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4th, at 1:30 p.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden. There will be a viewing prior to services from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Interment will be at Leavitt’s Mortuary Aultorest Memorial Park.
