Obituary

Jimmy (Jim) Roy Ash passed away peacefully at his home in Ogden, Utah, at 57 after a heroic battle. Although he struggled for many years with health-related issues, he faced every challenge with mental fortitude, unbending will, and dignity. Jim is survived by Tanna Maestas; his stepchildren, Keeli Espinoza (Casey Espinoza) of Ogden, Michael Maestas of Ogden, Landry (Samantha) Maestas of Ogden; son-in-law, Pita Mafoa of Salt Lake City; former spouse,Charlyn Woodward; grandchildren, Jaydelyn Peterson, Jaxxon Richins, Journee Ash; sister, Lori Lee (Raymond) Galvan of California; niece, Christina Jeppson of California, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his daughters, Seanta Mafoa and Jerica Ash of Salt Lake City. Jim was born on August 24th, 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Morris LeRoy and Lorraine Ash. He graduated from Granite High in 1983 and had remained a lifelong learner, making time to read, write and create art even up to his last day. He enjoyed having conversations with family and friends over late-night meals and traditional Thanksgiving dinners. He was an excellent cook, perfecting recipes to share with his loved ones. He was a caring father who was deeply saddened by the early passing of his daughters, with whom he is now reunited. Jim loved his family and grandchildren and is loved by many. He will be greatly missed. Services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary 836 36th St., Ogden, UT. 84403 Friday, June 24th at 2:00 pm. Interment at a later date at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
