Jo-Ann Burnett Malan
On June 20, 2026, Jo-Ann Malan passed away peacefully in her sleep. Born on November 25, 1934, she was raised in Ogden and helped on The Family Farm. In junior high, mom was a cheerleader. She attended Ogden High School where she met her husband, Dale Betteridge. Together they had four children; Steve, Debbie (Larry) Lombard, Dave (Elaine) Betteridge, and Kent Betteridge. She later divorced and remarried the love of her life, Dick Malan. He was so sweet to mom buying her gifts, going on vacation, and staying in their trailer at the Eagles Campground in the Ogden Canyon.
Jo-Ann was a school lunch worker for 25 years and loved all the kids. She ended up being a caregiver for Dick in his last five years of his life and took on all the chores of the house such as mowing lawns, trimming trees, and always keeping her house clean.
She loved her five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Last year her health started declining and Dave was her caregiver, spending many days together. In October 2025, her friend, Liz, told us about Applegate Hospice and we were so happy to have the help needed. Brooke was so sweet with mom and she just loved her. Annette was her nurse and she was great too. She provided her with all the medications and advice needed.
Mom had to move out of her home in January, and we were very happy with Chandler Gardens in Clearfield. The staff and residents made her feel at home. We want to thank them all for all that they did.
As mom’s health declined, she was at peace. It was her time to go and told me to have a Celebration of Life to talk about the good times and know she lived 91 years of mostly good health and hard work. This is her final farewell.
Love from the Family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26th beginning at 2:00 P.M., located at Leavitt’s Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior.
