Joan McCune Horne Dwyer, 81, passed away May 23, 2013. She was born on Oct 30, 1931 to Paul A. and Dorothy C. McCune. She lived most of her life in Ogden and Clearfield, Utah. In 1949, Joan graduated from Ogden High School. She worked for the U.S. Government in several different capacities and she retired from Hill AFB after 30 years of service. Following retirement she volunteered at Davis Hospital for 8 years. Joan is the mother of five children: Paula (Russ) Lovell, Clinton; Tony Horne, Ogden; Michael Horne, Ogden; Steve (Kitty) Horne, Layton, and Sid (Tanya) Dwyer, Clearfield. She enjoyed a special relationship with each of her children and their spouses. She will be deeply missed. Joan is also survived by her sister, Karen Trewet, South Ogden. the two of them were best friends as well as sisters - always looking out for one another. Joan is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Joan had a great love for animals and plants. Whenever she could, she would be outside digging in the dirt exercising her green thumb. She took in any and all stray animals and provided them with a royal life. Please join the family for a Remembrance Gathering to celebrate Joans life on Thursday, May 30, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Leavitts Waterfall Atrium Room, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Inurnment will follow the gathering at Aultorest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Humane Society of Utah or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary would please Joan.
