Joan Memmott Simpson, 63, passed away Friday morning, December 6, 2013. She was born on November 16, 1950 to Evan Jed and Ruth Memmott in Gooding, Idaho. Joan graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State University. She married Andrew M. Simpson in the Salt Lake Temple on September 17, 1976. She was the mother of five children: four boys, Scott, Robert, Richard, and Kevin, and one daughter, Sharon. She worked for many years as a dorm aide at the School for the Deaf and Blind and later as a bus aide taking deaf children to and from school. She went on an LDS mission to Germany and England. She served in her church as a Nursery Leader, Primary Worker, and a Relief Society Visiting Teaching Supervisor. She also served as a Cub Scout Leader. She is survived by her husband, Andy, and her five children: Scott (Jodie), Robert, Richard (Reasha), Kevin, and Sharon, and her grandchildren: Ambrosia, Benjamin, Joseph, Kiptyn, and Zane. She is also survived by her eight siblings: Mary Lee (Lamar), Sherrie (Charles), Daniel (Jeannette), David (Ximena), LaDean (Mark), Lori (Steve), Becky (Kelly), and Michael (Brandi). She is preceded in death by her parents, Evan and Ruth, as well as her grandson, Brandon. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Washington Terrace 3rd Ward Chapel (4855 S 300 W, Washington Terrace). Friends may visit with the family at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden Wednesday, December 11 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services at the church on Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
