Joanne Stuart Robinson

Our beautiful beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother & dear friend to all fortunate enough to have known her, passed away peacefully on the evening of June 16, 2022, at the age of 91.

She was born of parents Claude Elliot & Ellen Stuart in the beautiful small town of Uintah, Utah where she and her 11 siblings spend many a day working and playing in the family orchard.

Joanne was a beautiful, fun loving, active soul with a radiant and infectious smile.  She attended Weber High then BYU.  Her external beauty went hand in hand with her infectious personality.  She was runner up Homecoming queen at BYU in 1952.  Joanne went on to pursue her passion in education as a teacher.  Shortly after beginning her career, she married Lynn B. Robinson in 1953.  Joanne & Lynn began their family in Baltimore, MD where their eldest son Steven was born.  Then back to Ogden, Utah where son Brian was born.  Portland Oregon was the next stop where Richard & Douglas were born.  Now, Dr. Robinson after completing his medical residency in Oregon, the family headed back to Ogden where their 5th (and finally a girl) child was born, Julie.

Joanne took on her full-time role of wife and mother.  Her children were always the center and focus of her life.  She adored and loved them all unconditionally!  This defined her both then and now.

Her love of her own children and education spilled over into her teaching career.  Her devotion and dedication to children’s wellbeing and education made her a favorite among her many students whom she taught over her long career.  Her passion for reading also carried over into her private life where she became involved in several book clubs in the community as well as many community and church organizations and campaigns.  She was a tireless volunteer in any activity she was asked to be in or asked to lead.

Joanne also loved the outdoors! She had a passion for gardening.  Her love for flowers, planting and maintaining them in her flower beds almost became an obsession especially in her later years.  She was an avid tennis player and loved all activities with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was always a fixture with her daughter Julie on their many family vacations.  Her grandchildren kept her young at heart as she followed them on family gatherings, weekend meals and all their musical and sporting events that she attended religiously.

Joanne was the picture of style and class both internal and external. Always polished in her appearance, but more importantly she was the kindest of kind and truly lived her faith!  Despite her life being interrupted with trials and hardships, she maintained a selfless and compassionate disposition choosing to comfort others during their trial and hardships, rather than dwell on her own.   She never had a bad word to say about anyone and was the most accepting of others regardless of their plights and circumstances.  She truly led by example in all aspects of her life. She has a strong and firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which never wavered.
