Joe Rojelio Lucero, age 85, passed away on August 1, 2018. He was born June 16, 1933 in Lumberton, New Mexico to Joe and Carmel Lucero. Roy married Emily Phyllis Pons on April 13, 1955. They were together for 46 years before her passing in 2001.
Roy was a Jehovahs Witness and spent more than 50 years devoted to increasing his knowledge of the Bible. He loved the bible passage at Revelation 21: 3, 4 which offers the wonderful hope for all mankind, "A paradise earth, with no sickness, death or pain".
Roy was a loving brother, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He enjoyed mechanic work and was known in the community for operating his business Roy and Riches Auto Repair, later Roy and Sons. Often conducting business on a hand shake he worked with people to make sure car repairs were affordable, at times offering his service free of charge. Roy loved horseback riding in the mountains.
Roy leaves behind three children and their families; Michael Roy (Dixie) Lucero, Laurie Jo (Rick) Fronk, and Mitchell John Lucero; six grandchildren who will miss his smile and playful nature; six great-grandchildren; two brothers Daniel (Lena) Lucero, Dave (Mariann) Lucero; and one sister Ursula Cordova.
