Obituary

Joe Leve Vigil passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 6th, 2025. He was born on August 16th, 1936, in Montrose, Colorado, to Eufracio Luis Vigil and Louisa Vigil. Joe grew up in Dragerton, Utah, and later moved to Ogden, Utah, where he enlisted in the Army Reserves in June of 1954.

On September 2nd, 1978, Joe married the love of his life, Carolina Maria Saldivar. He worked for 25 years at the DDO in Ogden before retiring, then continued working another 15 years at Best Western, where he made many lifelong friends. Throughout his years of dedicated work, Joe faithfully served in the Army Reserves, earning the rank of E6 before being honorably discharged in 1995.

Joe cherished time spent fishing and camping with his family. When he and Carrie weren't busy raising their three daughters, they loved going out dancing together. He enjoyed seeing movies with his beloved wife—especially westerns. Above all, Joe devoted his life to loving his family. His grandkids and great-grandkids were his pride and joy, and he made sure that no one around him ever went hungry. If you spent time with Joe, chances were good your belly was full.

After Carrie's passing, Joe moved to Congir Lotus Park, where people naturally gravitated to him. He spent his days surrounded by friends, playing bingo and cards. Every bingo prize he won was lovingly saved for his great-grandchildren. During this time, he met his dear friend Richard, and the two became inseparable—sharing an unbreakable bond and living out their days as the best of friends.

Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughters Christine (Craig) Hansen, Regina (Kenny) Shaw, and Sonja Beauvais; his sister Lucinda (Tony) Perez; his six grandchildren; and his eleven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Carolina Vigil; his parents Eufracio Sr. and Louisa; his brothers Eufracio Jr., Emilio, Fidel, and Floyd; his sisters Clara, Sofia, and Juanita; and his daughter Renee Covert.
