Johanna (Hanna) Meents, 82, passed away in South Ogden of Alzheimers disease. Hanna was born October 19, 1933 to Peter and Louisa Nieuwenburg in Amsterdam, Holland. She married Jerry Meents on October 29, 1951 in Amsterdam, Holland. Hanna immigrated to Ogden, Utah in 1957, along with her husband and 5 year old son. She lived most of her life in Ogden, where she established many warm and long lasting friendships. Hanna was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in keeping a clean and tidy home. Her day revolved around having a well prepared dinner, to the delight of her husband and family. Dutch apple pie, boterkoek, and homemade bread were the family favorites. Hanna enjoyed numerous visits to Holland, but was always happy to return to her home in Ogden. She had a special place in her heart for animals of all sorts. Seymour, a small Maltese mix was her favorite pet. Hanna was a very special lady who will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. The family would like to express Thank You to Dr. Scott Moulton, the staff at The Cottages at Legacy House, and a special thank you to her CNS Hospice Services nurse, Lea. Hanna is survived by her husband, Jerry; children: David (Pat), Mark (Jera), Shelly Arave (Brett); seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Jessica, Katie, AJ, Brett, Stephanie, Morgan; and eight great-grandchildren. Hanna was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
