Obituary

John Charles Campbell, a man whose hands helped shape not only homes but the hearts of those around him, passed away on June 2, 2026, in Farmington, Utah. He was born on August 12, 1956, in Ogden, Utah, and lived a life marked by faith, hard work, humor, and resilience.

John was a skilled general contractor, superintendent, and woodworker. He spent much of his life building homes, creating custom decks, and helping others with his handiwork. He believed most things could be fixed with the right tool, a little patience, or, when all else failed, a good strip of duct tape. Even more than his craftsmanship, John will be remembered for his generosity. He was always willing to share his time, and skills with anyone who needed help.

John had a charismatic personality, beautiful green eyes, classic feathered hair, and a gift for conversation. Although a bit of a Lone Ranger at times, once you got him on the phone or into a good conversation, the well did not run dry. He made friends easily, with neighbors, coworkers, and strangers who quickly became familiar faces. He also had a playful side and was known for answering questions with his favorite silly comeback: “blue 42.”

He loved camping, stargazing, woodworking, old westerns, collecting precious metals, and talking to animals like they were old friends. He found joy in simple things: a good story, stargazing, a project to work on, and time spent with the people he loved. John loved God and believed in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. While the last decade of his life brought significant challenges, including becoming a double amputee, John continued to defy the odds, bounce back, and choose hope whenever he could.

He was a proud father to Jonathan, Jennifer, Sharese, and Travis, and a much-loved grandpa to Brooklynn, Soren, Judah, Stellen, Graham, and Beth. He is also survived by his siblings Judy Jenson, Ronna Rasmussen, Nancy Orgill, Ron Campbell, and Shannon Talbot, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members. John was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Campbell and Marva Renee Wheatley; his sister, Cathleen Williams; and his brother, James Myron.

John leaves behind a legacy of grit, grace, humor, craftsmanship, and love. He will be deeply missed, happily remembered, and forever loved by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11, at 2:00 PM, at Leavitt's Mortuary and Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, Utah 84403. Friends are invited to visit with the family starting at 1:00 PM at the same location. Interment will follow at Aultorest Memorial Park.
