John W. Roods Jr. age 67, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, at his home in Ogden, Utah. John served active duty aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (US Navy) as well as various duty in the Military Reserves for many years; was a Fire Fighter for 28 years DDOFD; worked in UDOT Incident Management for 15 years and was a member of VFW. He was the commander for Legion Post 9 for four years. John loved spending time with his family, taking care of his horses and dogs. He enjoyed leather work, woodwork carvings and the outdoors. He was of Christian faith. He is survived by his two children; John W. Roods III; Tara Bowden, his five grandchildren; Braxton, Hannah, Logan, Savanah, and Karson who loved their grandfather very much. His Brother George and Sisters; Myrtle and Cathryn. He is preceded in death by his parents, John W. Roods Sr., Julia Laura E Roods. Funeral Services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 6:00 8:00 pm and again Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 10:00 10:45 am.
