South Weber- John W. Swanke, 66, passed away at McKay Dee Hospital on March 18, 2014. John was born August 18, 1947 to Stanley John Swanke and Shirley E. Smith. He married Daneen Wayman February 14, 1983 in Ogden, Utah.
John went to Ogden High School 1965. Weber State in Sheet Metal Aircraft program. He served in the Air Force Reserve in 1967. John retired from H.A.F.B. after 38 years in 2004; where he worked on the F4s and then F4 TCG where he had a great option to travel to many foreign countries. He belonged to Ogden Gun Club, Mount Ogden 4 Wheelers, Treasure & Historian, Northern Utah Bass Anglers Association- President and Vice President.
John held a lifetime Hunting and Fishing License. He enjoyed gambling, golf, hunting, fishing, camping, riding ATVs, and socializing with friends around the camp fire.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Cee Jay He is survived by his wife Daneen Swanke; Daughters: Darri (Dennis) Burton, Dixie (Michael) Meindl, and BreAnna (Jeff Terkelson) Wayman. Brothers: David (Ruby), Scott (Hollie). Sisters: Leslie (Jim) Fergus, Sue (Darrell) Rose, Nancy (Mark) Hansen. Brother-in-law: Chuck (Anna) Connery. Sister-in-law: Leslie (Bo) Connery, and 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT.
Viewing services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Final viewing Friday, March 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Interment services starting at 11:00 a.m.
