Joseph (Joe) Earl Kerr Sr 61 of Ogden Utah passed away on December 27th, 2022, surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Joe was born on October 11, 1961, to Shirley Ann Songer and Michel Soren Kerr in Ogden, UT. Where he lived most of his life.
Joe spent time growing up in Alaska where he learned to hunt and fish and live off the land in turn living off the land became one of Joes most valued and loved things to do, earning him the nickname of Our Mountain Man. Joe was very passionate about his hunting. It did not matter what games opening day it was Joe was ready at sunrise and on the hunt. He loved teaching Jacob and Kasandra how to hunt and fish. His favorite hunting buddy was his son Jacob. Joe loved being in the mountains and the further up and off the grid he was the happier he was.
Joe was a jokester and loved making people laugh always had a joke to tell anyone. He loved reminding everyone he was the original JOKER and lived up to the nickname.
Joe was a member of the Army national guards from January 1979 to November 1984.
Joe graduated high school in June 1987 which was an accomplishment he was very proud of.
Joe worked most his life in construction but would tell you painting was his most favorite thing to do.
Joe enjoyed working on vehicles and loved being what he would call a backyard mechanic.
Joe is survived by his children, Jacob Kerr Texas, Kasandra (Caleb) Bacca Logan UT, Ana (Bill) Deavel Montana, Nonny Ann (Tabor) Carle Kaysville UT, Joseph Jr. (Alisha) Kerr New Zealand and 11 grandchildren, 2 sisters Christina (Mark) Dawson St. George UT, Violet Kerr Ogden UT, and 2 brothers, Raymond Kerr Arizona, James Kerr St. George UT.
Joe is proceeded in death by his parents Shirley and Michel Kerr, his grandparents, 2 brothers, Steven and Daniel Kerr, 1 sister Kathryn Kerr and 1 nephew Mark Dawson Jr.
Services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th St. in Ogden on January 6, 2023 at 2pm. There will be a short viewing from 1pm to 2pm prior to services. Services will include military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made by Venmo to @viekerr in honor of joe. Or you can contact his sister Violet Kerr she will be handling all donations.
