Joseph Percy Stott, 93, passed away early on June 10, 2017 in Clinton, Utah, of conditions due to age.
Joe was born on September 24, 1923 in Meadow, Utah, to George Q Stott and Thirza Timbers Ottley. He graduated from Millard High School and went on to College at the BAC (Southern Utah University) in Cedar City, Utah.
He married his sweetheart, LaDawn Riddle, of Cedar City, Utah, on May 13, 1943 in the St. George LDS Temple, two weeks before he was called up for military service.
Joe served honorably in the army during WWII, as a jeep driver for Eisenhowers SHAEF Headquarters. He drove his jeep onto Omaha Beach in the 5th wave on D-day, and then across France and into Germany with the front lines, driving many military dignitaries to their destinations, and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded four battle stars.
After 18 months overseas, at the end of the war Joe arrived home to celebrate Christmas 1945 with his wife. He graduated from the AC (Utah State University) in Logan, Utah, and then settled in Ogden, Utah, where he raised his family, and taught automotive and drivers education classes at Ogden High School.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife of over 71 years, their daughter Mary, his parents, siblings, and many friends. He is survived by six children: Launie K. (Lynn) Severinsen, Rorie (Racquelle) Stott, Michelle (John) James, Twila (Dewey) Hansen, Leisa (Mark) Magee, Martin (Dixie) Stott, an adopted daughter Linda Peterson, 25 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.
Joe loved spending time with family, and he loved his cats. He and his wife served an LDS mission to the Connecticut, Hartford mission, spending their time in Rhode Island. They also served for 17 years in the Ogden LDS temple. Joe could always be found quietly serving his family, neighbors, church and community.
