IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph
Walton
June 17, 1939 – January 11, 2024
Joseph Walton, 84, of Ogden Utah, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at home with his family.
Joseph was born on June 17, 1939, to Catherine Hall and Joseph Walton in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. After surviving many hardships in England during World War II, he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1948. After graduating from Weber High School in 1958, he studied auto mechanics at Weber State College. He spent most of his career in automotive tool sales and tire sales. He was also a service-writer at Ken Garff in SLC.
In 1964 he married his sweetheart, Judy Thompson on August 20 in the Salt Lake Temple. Joe and Judy had 3 children: Sherlene, Mark, and Brian.
Starting in 2001, he gradually closed his tool business to pursue his favorite passion, which was traveling. He worked part time at a dealership so he would continue to have travel-money. He enjoyed traveling with friends, or on his own, often taking trips around the country that would last for many weeks at a time.
He was a devoted grandpa to his 3 grandchildren, Charlotte Walton, April Walton, and Justin Walton. He is so proud of all their many accomplishments. Grandpa Joe took special individual time with each grandchild, so that they would feel like they were the most loved grandchild in the family.
He had a love of restoring antique cars, and enjoyed attending car shows everywhere.
We will always remember his zest for travel, and the many adventures that we had while traveling with him. We enjoyed many fun trips to Canada, Mexico, many, many other states, including California, where he first gained his love for traveling. Dad was always planning his next trip, while still on vacation. He has instilled a love of travel and adventure in each of his children.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Eric Walton, and Iris Elkins.
He is survived by his wife Judy and their three children: Sherlene (Dale) Brenchley, Mark (Ruth) Walton, and Brian Walton.
We want to thank the wonderful care providers who helped care for Dad …Nurse Debbie, Kathlene, Berkeley, Jadee, and Rachel.
A celebration of life will be announced to family and friends at a date to be determined.
