Joyce Phillis Martinez, born in Rupert, Idaho on March 24, 1954 to Frances and Ben Martinez, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, at the age of 70, surrounded by her loved ones in her childhood home.

Joyce spent her early years in Ogden, Utah growing up with her parents and eight siblings. Her childhood was filled with the love and support of her close-knit family. At the age of 31, Joyce met Brent Williams, and they built a life together filled with joy and companionship. They celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage, creating countless memories.

Joyce cherished spending her free time on the boat with Brent during the summer months, enjoying the serenity of the water and the company of her husband. In the spring, she loved sitting on the porch, surrounded by family and friends, savoring the beauty of the season and the warmth of their presence.

Known for her boundless love and caring nature, Joyce embraced her nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children as if they were her own. Her home was always open, and her warmth and kindness made her a beloved figure in her community. Friends often referred to her as "the spark of West Ogden," a testament to her vibrant personality and the light she brought into every room.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Ben Martinez. Sisters: Laura and Vidy, Brother: Richard.

She is survived by her sisters: Gloria and Alice (Henry) and her brothers: Ernie and Kenny (Floyda) As well as her devoted husband, Brent Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A celebration of Joyce's remarkable life will be held on August 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah 84403 in honor of her legacy.

Joyce's spirit, kindness, and love will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
