Judge Robert V. Phillips passed away peacefully from this life to the next on Aug. 22, 2013. Robert was born in Ogden, Utah on April 8, 1931 to Vernon Edward and Reva Mae Phillips. He was educated in Ogden Public Schools and graduated from Ogden High School in 1949, where he served as student body president and as a member of the football team. In 1950 he married Donna Field. They spent 62 years together and had three children.
Robert served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He attended Weber State College, Centenary College of Louisiana and University of Utah where he obtained his law degree.
Robert practiced law for over 50 years in the local community and served as a State court judge .
He possessed an incredible knowledge of the law and judicial system, along with a strong dedication and passion to help and serve others. His intellectual ability will leave a long legacy for those who knew him. His clever wit, comical humor and poetry will be forever missed.
Robert is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Donna; 3 children, Cindy (William) Herhberger, Mark (Susie) Phillips and Randall Guy Phillips; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; step father, Ben Brown and his special dog, Tanker.
Services will be held Monday August 26, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th street. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services.
