Julius Marias Johannes Theunis was born on January 5, 1936, to Henricus Julius Maria Theunis and Joanna (De Croock) Gulley (known as Jenny) in Antwerp, Belgium. He was the nephew of Leo Kiebooms, renowned accordionist and founder of legendary jazz club of the 50s, Cafe Kiebooms of the De Connickplein in Antwerp, Belgium. Joe was encamped in one of Europes safe havens for children during WWII and came to America when he was 13 with his mother and American stepfather, Bill Bailey. During the 1950s, Joe became an American citizen through service in the United States Army and later received an honorable discharge with a medal for "best vehicle driver". He worked for many years as a property researcher for Realty Tax and Service Division of Title Insurance and Trust Co., Los Angeles, CA. From 1979 thru the early 2000s, Joe lived predominantly in Las Vegas, NV, and then moved to Utah to be closer to family. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, bicycling, playing the accordion, oil painting, socializing and long friendships. He also enjoyed watching boxing matches on TV, playing pool and poker. He is preceded in death by his mother. Joe is survived by his beloved daughter, Lisa Housel; his grandson, Dillon Housel of Farr West, Utah, his sister, Corina Scroggie; and numerous nieces and nephews of Wenatchee, WA.
