Kathleen Marie Vaught, Kathy, G-ma, Grams, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and faithful friend, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2023, after a brave battle with sickness for the last few years. She was surrounded by her family as she left this Earth to be with her mom, dad, two brothers, and father-in-law.
Kathy was born on February 2, 1956, in Pennsylvania to LaVica and John Losik Jr. She had three older siblings: Johnny, Bob, and Bonnie. As a child, she loved to play with her dog, Biffer, and sit on her wishing tree in the woods across from her home.
After graduating from Hickory High School, Kathy went on to Penn State and then completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She met Keith, the love of her life and husband of 45 years while at BYU.
As a young military family, Keith and Kathy had the opportunity to move to Hawaii with their two young daughters, Amber and Jessica. This is also where their third daughter, Janelle, was born. This truly was a special place for Keith and Kathy. Later in their lives, they were able to visit Hawaii many times. They loved to stay at the Royal Hawaiian and Kathy loved to float in the ocean in Waikiki.
Kathy was an avid scrap booker and card maker for many years. She loved getting together with her dear scrapbooking friends. They were all such a light in her life. As a family, we are grateful for the beautiful scrapbooks that she left behind for us to treasure and reminisce about our good times together.
Kathy was known for her love of dogs, her kindness, and her beautiful heart. She was always there for her kids and grandkids, willing to listen, without any judgment. She always had a way of making everyone feel so loved and supported.
She loved to snuggle with her great granddaughter, Mira, and patiently sat through all of the silly shows that Mira wanted to watch.
Kathy gave the best hugs ever and she always reminded her children and grandchildren to be safe whenever they left the house.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Keith, her children, Amber (Matt), Jessica, and Janelle, her grandchildren, Emily (Colton), Aiden, Mariah, Tim, KJ, Collin, and Kenna, her great-grandchildren, Mira and Korbin, and her sister, Bonnie.
While the pain of losing Kathy is immeasurable, we are grateful that she is no longer in pain and is reunited with her family members that have passed before her. Kathy has returned to the source of life and infinite love. She expressed a part of that love to everyone she touched in mortality. Her love will live on forever.
A Celebration of Life for Kathy will be held on Saturday, April 22, from 2 PM to 5 PM in the Atrium at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT 84403.
