Obituary

Kathryn Ann Cudmore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away July 11, 2024, at the age of 93. Born in Savannah, Georgia on March 31, 1931, to Thomas and Emma Payne. Kathryn, known affectionately as Ann, was raised alongside her brothers Thomas and William Payne, and her sister Mary Payne Bruce, all of whom have preceded her in death.

Ann spent her formative years on Tybee Island (Fort Screven) while her father served in the US Army. She attended school in Savannah, making the daily journey from Tybee. The family home at Fort Screven, was at the time, a cherished place for Ann until 2022 when it was dismantled to make way for new developments. Ann completed her education at St. Vincent's Academy in Savannah, graduating in the class of '49.

In April of 1954, Ann married Donald B. Cudmore, then stationed in Savannah with the US Air Force. Their union was celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the service conducted by Ann's brother, Rev. Thomas H. Payne.

As a dedicated Air Force spouse, Ann accompanied her husband on assignments across the globe for over 28 years. Together they nurtured a family of four daughters and one son: Terry (Joseph) Beaty, Cheryl (Bernard) Aguirre, Patricia (John) Larsen, Kevin (Tammy) Cudmore and Julie (Ray) Trujillo. 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The Cudmore's travelled from Georgia to Mississippi, Massachusetts to Florida, Goose Bay Labrador to Massachusetts, Virginia, Wiesbaden Germany and Ramstein Germany and finally settled in Utah upon retirement.

During retirement Ann and Don embraced life in Riverdale, Utah. Relishing in travel and their involvement in the Catholic Church. Following her husbands passing, Ann relocated to Minnesota to be closer to her daughters. She found joy in activities such as bingo, crochet and sharing her cherished lasagna with loved ones.

Funeral services will commence with a Catholic mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah. Officiated by Father Cummins, followed by interment at Leavitt's Mortuary and Aultorest Memorial Park.

Viewing will be held at Leavitt's on Monday July 22, 2024, from 6-7:30 PM followed by the rosary at 7:30PM. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah.

Ann will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace. We will be our southern belle, known as Mama, as she crossed over the Lazaretto Bridge.
