Kathy was born on January 28, 1961, in Ogden, Utah. Attending schools in Ogden, Kathy graduated from Ogden High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Weber State University.
Kathy is survived by her son, Virgil Gabaldon and his girlfriend Sarah of Salt Lake City; as well as her siblings, Robert (Henry & Henrietta) Martinez from New Mexico, Dorothy Butterfield of Ogden, Utah, Patrick (Alice) Martinez of Long Beach, California, Gilbert Martinez of Ogden, Utah, Jeanette Martinez of Clinton, Utah, Merlyne Valdez of Ogden, Utah and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Jacobo & Juanita Martinez and her brother Joe Martinez.
Her interests included attending plays, concerts, word games and playing poker machines in Wendover and Las Vegas. Kathy also enjoyed going to Farmers Markets and spending time with her family and friends.
Kathy enjoyed working with student-aides in the Registrars Office at Weber State University over the past 20 years. She truly loved her job and was dedicated to the university.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Kathys name to the American Heart Association.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at McKay Dee Hospital and IHC Heart Institute in Murray, Utah.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Grandview Estates Club House located at 3796 Quincy Avenue, Ogden, Utah from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Saturday, September 9th.
