IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathy
Stobaugh
March 29, 1951 – June 15, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy Sue Stobaugh after her fight with Alzheimer's. Born in Grand Junction, CO, to William H. Stobaugh and Ida Ladean Stobaugh. Kathy was a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and friend, who lived a full and inspiring life. She passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025 at the age of 74.
Kathy graduated with a Bachelor's Degree and later a Master's Degree from Weber State University. She spent 30 years as an elementary school teacher, dedicating her life to shaping young minds. In expansion to her role as an educator, Kathy taught art, yoga, and meditation, always looking for ways to inspire creativity and mindfulness in those around her.
Kathy lived an active and healthy lifestyle, participating in triathlons, cycling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking. She was passionate about spending time outdoors and regularly took camping trips with her husband and their dogs, enjoying the beauty of nature. Whether it was the red rock desert of Moab or the fresh snow-covered mountains of North Ogden, Kathy felt at home in the great outdoors. She always looked forward to her yearly trips to Sun Valley and Jackson Hole, where she could reconnect with her friends and the natural world she so loved. There was no outdoor activity Kathy wouldn't try, and she embraced each adventure with joy and enthusiasm.
Kathy was a state of Utah champion of Toastmasters and was honored as Utah's Art Educator of the Year. She was known for her positive energy, determination, dedication to personal growth and helping others achieve their potential.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Gary Lierd, two sons Britian and Duke Mclean, stepson Bart Lierd and preceded in death by stepson Blair Lierd, twelve grandchildren, cousin Sarah Stobaugh, and sister Wendy Price. Kathy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service to honor Kathy's life will be held on Saturday June 28th at Leavitt's Mortuary 836 36th St. Ogden, Utah from 2-4pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathy's remarkable life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kathy's name to Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden, Utah.
Kathy Sue Stobaugh will forever be remembered for her passion, zest for life, and the lasting impact she had on everyone around her.
