Obituary

Keith W. McLane, our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and friend passed away on April 25, 2011. Keith was born in Ogden, Utah on December 1, 1928 to Hugh Leslie and Alice Wallwork McLane. Keith and his brother Dale grew up in a cabin on a farm in Pleasant View, Utah. This experience had a profound impact on him for the rest of his life. He had a childlike enthusiasm and curiosity for nature, flowers and birds. Keith graduated from Weber High School in 1948 and attended Weber State College. He married Sheila Marie Hurley in 1952. Shortly after, he left for Germany to serve his country as a medic in the United States Army during the Korean Crisis. Like his father, Keith worked for the Southern Pacific Rail Road retiring as an engineer after 48 years of service. 1959, Keith and Sheila moved to South Ogden where they raised their five children and where he lived until his death. Keith loved to travel and the family took many Griswold vacations. He also spent time with his daughters who live in Arizona and Washington State. Keith was an avid golfer and golfed regularly until his death. He and Sheila had fond memories of golf trips with their friends to St. George and Idaho. Keith golfed regularly with a group of cherished buddies. When they were unable to golf due to weather, they met weekly at the V I for a meal and friendship. The family would like to give a special thanks to those dear men who enriched his life in his later years. Keith was a lifelong learner who lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed shopping with his children and grandchildren, shoes, red sports cars, watching golf and basketball and marveling at nature. The simplest things gave him joy. He told many stories about his train travels, crossing over the Great Salt Lake causeway during sunrise, sunset and full moon and of watching coyotes and other animals as he journeyed on the rails. Keith touched all who knew him and we will miss him dearly. Keith is preceded in death by his wife Sheila, his parents Hugh and Alice, and his younger brother Thomas. He is survived by his brother Dale and Cheryl McLane, his children Kayla Faulkner of Phoenix, AZ; Keri and Ron Dalton of Riverdale, UT; Kris and Jeff Randall of Spokane, WA; Patrick and Shannon McLane of Pleasant View, UT; Jeff McLane of South Ogden. His grandchildren; Troy, Amy, Brodie, Kitt, Luke and Rylee. His great-grandchildren Shawnie, Maddison, Zyra, Ara, Avea, Zayne, Akasha, Dayton, Brixton and Brikley. Dad, you were one of a kind and we will always love and cherish the memories we have of you.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com Visitation Information Date: Saturday, April 30, 2011 Time: 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm Leavitts Mortuary Address: 836 36th Street, , Ogden, UT, 84403 801-394-5556 | Map Service Information Date: Saturday, April 30, 2011 Time: 3:00 pm - Leavitts Mortuary Address: 836 36th Street, , Ogden, UT, 84403 801-394-5556 | Map
