Kelly Paul Newton
March 15, 1952 ~ September 12, 2014
Kelly Paul Newton, age 62, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born March 15, 1952 to Ian and Elaine Newton in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1970 and attended Weber State College. Kelly and Maurine Nelson met while attending Elim Lutheran Church. He married Maurine on July 9, 1983 in Ogden.
Kelly was the original owner of the Gray Moose Pub, bringing to Ogden a fun place to play darts, enjoy a pint and listen to great music. After selling the business he began a new career setting tile for New Generation Tile where his mentor Renato Miconi turned him into a master tile setter. Kelly has enjoyed cooking with wine pairings, bird watching, all kinds of music and traveling. Model railroading was his passion and he greatly enjoyed the friendships he had because of this hobby.
Kelly is survived by his wife of South Ogden; one brother Gil (Donna) Newton; nine nieces and nephews, Jon Christiansen, Claire (Pete) Caldwell, Lauren (Curtis) Bryne, Brian (Samantha) Hargrave, Christine Newton and Megan Newton, all of Ogden; two sisters-in-law Cathay Christiansen of South Ogden and Linda S. Nelson of New York. He is preceded in death by both parents.
