Kenneth McFarlandKen passed away on Christmas Eve Day at the age 74 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home from complications of Alzheimers. He was born on May 31, 1938 to Helen Fae and Russell T. McFarland. After graduating from Ogden High School he joined the Navy where he participated in Operation Hardtack towing targets for the Atomic Bomb testing at the Eniwetok Atoll. He was a Glassman by trade, working at W.P. Fuller, Linford Bros. Glass and was President and co-owner of Western Glass Inc. Some of the many glass achievements were the "Cauldron" for the 2002 Winter Olympics, restoration of the Peery Egyptian theatre and Complex, and the Ogden City Police and Fire Station. We are all so proud of him and he was the most honest and ethical man we have ever known. This respect was echoed by his many business associates through the years. He was an all sports enthusiast but his favorites were the Atlanta Braves and of course the Denver Broncos. Ken is survived by his wife of 52 years Frankie, sons Blair, Jeff (Jamie), daughter Traci (Jeff) Coles, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Mick (Susan), John McFarland, sisters Bonnie Manning, Judy (Bob) Turgeon and many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Kens antics. There will be a viewing for Ken on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Leavitts Mortuary with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior. The family wants everyone to know how very special and wonderful the George E. Wahlen facility is; the staff on the D wing are awesome. If Ken couldnt be home, it was the next best home ever.
