IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth
Songer
August 1, 1954 – January 8, 2026
Kenneth Lee Songer, known affectionately as Ken to his friends and Papa to his family, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026.
Born on August 1, 1954, in North Platte, Nebraska, Ken's life journey was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family and friends, a dedication to his career, and a fierce love for Alene, also known as Mya to her grandchildren.
At just 15, Ken was love-struck and determined to run away with Alene. Her father declared they could be married under the condition that he join the Army. Without hesitation, he enlisted, they were married, and he was deployed to Korea to serve our great country. After serving his country with pride and starting a family, he transitioned his career to the Union Pacific Railroad. After many years and fond memories, he went to work as a civil servant, serving as a Flight Chief at Hill AFB until he retired 38 years later.
His service was characterized by a deep sense of duty, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to his country. Ken's colleagues at Hill AFB respected him for his integrity and the mentorship he provided.
Ken was a friend to many and a stranger to none. His presence was a source of stability and comfort to those who had the privilege of knowing him. Ken's legacy is one of love, service, and generosity.
As we bid farewell, we celebrate Ken's life. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Ken is survived by his sister, Caroline Edwards (Randy Edwards), and his brother, Bob Clark. He is also survived by his son, Travis Songer (Hanna Odekirk). Ken leaves behind his grandchildren, Ashton Kenneth Songer (Rachel Songer), Alexander Songer; their mother, Brooke Songer, whom he loved as a daughter; and Gabriel and Chance Rose, who all brought him great joy.
Ken is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alene Songer, and his daughter, Nicole Rose, along with his parents, Earl and Violet Songer, and his siblings, Milly, Beverly, Leroy, Sharon, and Shirly, who all welcomed him home with open arms.
