On March 7, 2023, Kent Blaylock Malan, age 85, passed away, joining his bride Rosalyn to celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary. Rosalyn died December 1, 2019. Kent was born May 16, 1937, in Ogden, the oldest son of Fred W. and Mildred Blaylock Malan. He was raised in Ogden with four sisters and three brothers. He graduated Ogden High and Weber State College. Here he met his loving companion, Rosalyn Ann Roghaar. They were married in the Logan Utah Temple. This union brought 4 daughters and 1 son into their lives. The children were all raised in Farr West. They operated a successful Guernsey dairy farm.
At a young age, Kent worked with his father, a land surveyor. He was accomplished enough to be hired with the U.S. Forest Service. His time was spent in a helicopter, mapping wilderness areas in Utah, Nevada, and Idaho. He retired a very successful cartographer. His interest and knowledge of trails in the West was very well known.
Kent was active in the Farr West Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he fulfilled his callings faithfully.
Kents five children are Rebecca Malan (deceased); David (Rae) Malan, Mantua; Susanne (Roger) Hansen, Providence; Kathleen Malan (West Jordan); Melissa (Cory) Wilkes, Willard; and his grandchildren. Kent is survived by his siblings, Anne Heninger, N. Ogden; Phyllis Malloy, Citrus Heights, CA; Adele (Sid) Forsgren, Brigham City; John F. Malan, Ogden; and sister-in-law Linda (John) Clark, Amalga.
Viewing will be held at 10 am Monday, March 13; Graveside Services will follow at 11 am. Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
