Kevin (Hoyle) Lee Sorenson, age 63, passed away peacefully on September 18th, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Kevin was born on November 3, 1962, in Richfield, Utah, to Donna Ruth (Nielsen) Sorenson and Hoyle Larsen Sorenson.

Kevin grew up with a strong sense of family, adventure, and determination. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an early reflection of the leadership, dedication, and service that would characterize his life. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1981 and went on to attend Weber State University, graduating in 1986.

Following college, Kevin devoted 30+ years of service to the State of Utah Department of Human Services in juvenile parole before retiring in 2021. Throughout his career, he was respected for his commitment, dependability, his big heart, and the relationships he built with colleagues and friends.

Kevin was an accomplished downhill skier who spent countless hours on the slopes of Snowbasin, where he built many lasting friendships. He also had a remarkable talent in the kitchen. A true master chef, Kevin, found great joy in preparing meals for family and friends. He loved gathering people together, whether around a dinner table, a campfire, or during outdoor adventures. Camping, fishing, golfing, skiing, and spending time with those he loved were among his greatest pleasures. Kevin approached life with enthusiasm and energy. His brothers affectionately nicknamed him “Fast Forward Kevin,” a testament to his lively spirit and constant motion.

Kevin was previously married to Shelly Sorenson. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, they shared many meaningful years together and remained close friends throughout the years that followed. Their enduring friendship was a reflection of the respect, care, and history they continued to share. Kevin and his partner Jessica Schlaefli have spent many good years together. They enjoyed spending time with friends, enjoying the outdoors, and going on adventures together. Jessica has selflessly cared for Kevin throughout his surgeries and sicknesses and brought much joy into his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyle Larsen Sorenson and Donna Ruth (Nielsen) Sorenson, and by his brothers, Brian Kemp Sorenson and Scott Mitchell Sorenson.

Kevin is survived by his partner Jessica Schlaefli, his brother Craig Hoyle Sorenson, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and lots of friends all of whom will cherish their memories of his kindness, humor, generosity, and zest for life.

Kevin will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of family, his gift for bringing people together, and the warmth he shared with everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 10th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah 84403.
