Kevin Arnold ThredgoldKevin Thredgold, 85, passed away quietly Sunday, March 13, 2011 at McKay-Dee Hospital. Kevin was born on September 11, 1925 in Bordertown, South Australia. He was the son of Arnold Alfred Giffin Thredgold and Vera Coral Norman. The family immigrated to the United States a few years later, settling in Ogden. Kevin graduated from Ogden High School in 1943 and enlisted in the US Navy in August of that same year. He served in the South Pacific, and received an honorable discharge in June 1946.Kevin attended the University of New Mexico, playing on their tennis team. He also attended Idaho State University.Kevin married Donna Jean Taylor on March 11, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Kevin was employed for 27 years at Ford Finance Insurance Co. in Ogden, and later worked for Browning Arms Co. for 18 years in Mountain Green. Kevin retired from Browning Arms in June of 1991. He was a member of the LDS Church. Kevin loved golf, tennis, bowling, and watching sports on television. Kevin had a deep love for his cat Boots and his dog Thred. He was a kind, loving, Husband, Father, and Grandfather, with a gifted sense of humor. We will miss him so much. Kevin is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 63 years, Donna, and three sons: Jeff (Lynnette) Thredgold of Farmington, Scott (Patricia) Thredgold of Fruit Heights, and Gregory (Cindy) Thredgold of Springville. Sixteen grandchildren, Amy (Drew) Shirts, Chris (Keri) Thredgold, Shawn (Tagen) Thredgold, Michelle (Brett) Peterson, Kacey (Bryce) Barnes, Taylor Thredgold, Scott (Meghan) Thredgold, Lisa Thredgold, Cindy (Cameron) Eggertz, Shera (Jeff) Whitmer, Kelli Thredgold, Cameron Thredgold (LDS Missionary in Portugal), Brian Thredgold, Shane Thredgold, Brandon (Caitlin) Thredgold, and Connor Thredgold. Kevin had twenty-one great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Delwyn of Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lynette Barker. A special thanks to the medical and hospice staffs at McKay-Dee Hospital for their outstanding care of Kevin, especially Dr. Straus. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street at 10 a.m. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening at the Mortuary from 6-8 p.m., and Thursday morning from 8:45-9:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Willard, Utah Cemetery.
