Our loving husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 2, 2026, surrounded by his family, after battling Lewy Body Dementia for several years.
Larry was born on March 26, 1950 in Ogden, Utah, to Douglas Todd and Catherine Lucille Empey Weir. He was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. He later served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Los Angeles, California. Larry went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from Weber State College and built a career in the Aerospace industry, where he worked for several companies.
Larry met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Youngman, and they were sealed in the Ogden Temple on June 22, 1972. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family. Larry found great joy in supporting his children and grandchildren, attending their events, and creating lasting memories.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years (54 in June), Ann; his children: Stephanie (Carrson) Draper, Heidi (Robert) Aschliman, Jennifer (David) Joos, Wendi (Ryan) Johnson, and Bryan Weir; 11 grandchildren: Clark (Kaylee), Ryan (Sharon), Emma (Henderson), Peyton, Andrew, McKynlee, Braxton, Annabelle, Xander, Baylee, and Charlotte; 4 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; his brother Dennis (Kathi) Weir; and his sister LouAnn (Mark) Larkin. He loved his son-in-laws as if they were his own and all of his children's friends that came around.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Todd and Catherine Lucille Empey Weir; his mother- and father-in-law, George and Dora Youngman; and his brother-in-law, Curtis Youngman. After 56 years apart, we find comfort in imagining the joyful reunion he is now having with his mother.
Larry was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served many callings throughout his life. Most recently, he served on the McKay Dee Pastoral Committee, where he touched and blessed many lives. He was also deeply involved in the Scouting program for 20 years, including 10 years as a Scoutmaster. He had a tremendous love for the scouting program!
He enjoyed serving his community as a member of the City of Washington Terrace on the Planning Committee and later as a City Council Member. Larry had a love for woodworking and spent countless hours creating meaningful, handcrafted gifts for others- treasures that will be cherished for years to come! He loved to give them as wedding, birthday and Christmas gifts. He also loved gardening, tending his plants with care, and sharing the fruits of his labors. Every fall he would have fresh veggies and bottle anything he could. This passion was passed down to his children.
Larry’s greatest legacy is his unconditional love for his family and anyone around him. He deeply loved his wife and family and showed it in simple, meaningful ways—holding Ann’s hand, opening doors for her, and being by her side every day up until his passing.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building at 125 East 5350 South, Washington Terrace, Utah.
Friends and family may visit with the family on Thursday April 9, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and again on Friday April 10, 2026 from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building at 125 East 5350 South, Washington Terrace, Utah. Larry touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him!!
