Laura Ramey, 78, passed away July 2, 2016. She was born March 3, 1938. We are heartbroken to lose our beloved matriarch. She was witty and irreverent and we all got a little bit of that from her. She was also creative and could always make something out of almost nothing. If any of us is loving, difficult, sassy, sweet, mouthy, short tempered at times but have the patience of a saint at others, likes to relax but not afraid of hard work, beautiful but with your own style, anxious, capable, stresses easily or can swear like a sailor when provoked then you know you came by it honestly. She gave us all these gifts and more. All 29 of us were brought into the world because Gran had sex. Gran loved books and was an avid reader. In her younger years she liked to hunt and was a state champion in archery at 19. She loved going camping and was a bowling enthusiast on a womans bowling league.She enjoyed her family, especially her grandkids and having drinks with friends over a nice game of gin rummy. There is sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.- Washington Irving. Laura is survived by four daughters, Susan Marie Kelly-Michelsen (Wayne), Laurie Halloran, Jeanne Hillyard and Karen Hunt (Matt); eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Laura is preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Jasmine Marie Dougherty. No Funeral Services will be held but a small Memorial for family and friends will be held on Saturday July 16, 2016.
