LaVon Wiese Land Folks January 23, 1928 April 16, 2017 LaVon Wiese Land Folks, age 89 passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 surrounded by her family at Ogden Regional Medical Center from pulmonary fibrosis. She was born on January 23, 1928 in Ogden, Utah to Carl and Mary Wiese. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1946. She married Richard Land in 1948. They had four children together. They were married for 26 years before they divorced. It took over twenty years before someone else came into her life and swept her off her feet. She married Henry Folks in 1995. They enjoyed dancing and traveling together until he passed away in 2007. LaVon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a secretary for Sunday School and taught Primary. She worked at Hill Air Force Base for 27 years as a purchasing clerk before retiring. She received several awards for her service. LaVon enjoyed bowling and participated in several leagues for over thirty years. Other activities she enjoyed were golf, traveling, dancing, and gardening. She was proud of her yard and it brought her joy to take care of her flowers. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and participate in other activities; she was their biggest fan and seldom missed a game. She loved her family and was proud of her children and grandchildren. Her favorite day of the week was Sunday because she got to visit with her family. LaVon was a die-hard Utah Jazz fan. She didnt miss a game and kept a log in her notepad of the seasons stats. The night before she passed away she was able to watch one last Jazz game as they defeated the Clippers with a shot at the buzzer. LaVon is survived by her four children Blaine (Leah) Land, Chris Orton, Dennis Land, and Tommy (Cindy) Land; three siblings Carl Ray (Avon) Wiese, Glen (Kay Jon) Wiese, and Norma (Dick) Hawkins; 14 Grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. LaVon is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter, and great-grandson. The family would like to thank Dr. John Hemmersmeier for his time, care, and compassion that he showed to her for the last month of her life. Funeral services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street Ogden, Utah 84403 on Monday April 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Family will greet friends on Sunday from 6:00 pm 8:00 pm and Monday prior to services from 10:00 am-10:45am. Interment will be at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
