Obituary

LaVon R. Werner, 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in Waterford, Virginia. LaVon was born December 15, 1926, in Vesta, Minnesota to Arthur and Elsie Kletscher. She graduated from Mankato Business College in Mankato, Minnesota. LaVon married Clarence J. Werner on May 1, 1949, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado and lived in Green River, Wyoming until 1958 when she and her husband and three children moved to Ogden, Utah and then to Roy, Utah. In 2011, LaVon went to live with her daughter in Virginia. LaVon worked at Hill Air Force Base for 12 years and volunteered at Hill Air Force Museum in Roy, Utah for over ten years. She was an active member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Ogden, Utah. She held many offices in the Lutheran Womens League and attended St. Pauls Retiree activities. During her life she loved to crochet, embroider, do plastic canvas projects and complete other craft projects. LaVon was also an avid reader, liked doing word finds and loved playing cards especially pinochle. LaVon loved taking road trips and cruises which enabled her to visit many places in and outside of the United States. LaVon is survived by her son, Ron (Rose) Werner of Desert Hills, AZ; daughters, Joyce (Kent) Hardcastle of Waterford, VA and Sherry (David) Hartline of Mesquite, NV; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred DeMuth of MN and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elsie Kletscher; her husband, Clarence; her sister, Veonna Kaehler of Springfield, MN and her brother, Murl Kletscher of Lester Prairie, MN A memorial service will be held at St. Pauls Lutheran Church 3329 Harrison Blvd. in Ogden, Utah on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Internment at Washington Heights Cemetery will take place later in the day. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the National Alzheimers Foundation. Arrangements are being coordinated with Leavitts Funeral Home in Ogden, Utah. May LaVon fly with angels til were together again.
