Larry was born on January 29, 1933 in Granger, Texas. He was a star football player in high school and received a scholarship to play for the University of Texas. Unfortunately, an injury in his senior year forced him to forego a football career and enlist in the U.S. Air Force.
He married Joan Wilson on April 30, 1955 in Topeka, Kansas. Larry served in the Korean War and retired after 25 years of military service. After his military career, Larry proudly graduated from Weber State College and returned to a second career at Hill Air Force Base.
Larry loved Appaloosa horses, stray dogs, the Oregon Coast, the Dallas Cowboys and golf. Larry was a member of Holy Family Parish in Ogden.
The family extends its gratitude to the staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in Ogden and to Bree and Jenn with Comfort Worx Hospice for their attentive care of Larry in these final months.
Larry was preceded in death by his lovely, witty wife, Joan (2004), and is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Hornak (Nile Eatmon); his grandchildren, Nathan and Sarah Eatmon; and his sisters, Rita Hornak and Delma Enger.
Interment will be in Topeka, Kansas.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life ceremony in Larrys honor in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Michael J. Fox Institute for Parkinsons Research or the Utah Humane Society.
We love you, Dad.
