Leo Dean Coombs, 91, of Riverdale passed away Friday, December 9th in the comfort of his home, beside his loving wife, of more than 69 years.
He was born June 2, 1931, in Fountain Green, Utah, to Ervin and Iona Davis Coombs.
He married the love of his life, Darla Maureen Selzle on June 26, 1953. They later brought 3 beautiful children into the world, Susan (Frank) Gallegos, Michael Coombs & Shari Baker.
Surviving is his wife, two daughters, three grand-children Heather (Joseph) Baker Luther, Brandon (Marisa) Sackett & Carli Coombs, and four great grand-children Bryden Hudman, Katri Coombs, Marc & Ryan Luther.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son, and son in law Marc Baker.
After graduating high school, he went to work for his uncle at Ogden Poultry. He later started his own adventure and founded D&M Distributing. He achieved great success, probably sold more chickens than anyone else this side of the Mississippi, and befriended nearly everyone in the industry. Even at 91 years old, he could still be found at D&M several days a week.
When Dean semi-retired, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, playing cards, and traveling. He loved being with his family most of all, especially his great grand-children. Dean was known for his delicious meatloaf and legendary popcorn! He always had a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts laying around too. He was also known for gifting $2 dollar bills and boxes of Mrs. Cavanaughs Chocolates.
Services will be held at Leavitts Mortuary on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. The viewing will begin at 2pm and the funeral at 3pm, followed by a family graveside prayer.
