Leroy Eugene Songer passed away in the early hours of Saturday, December 12, 2015. He passed peacefully with family surrounding him after a long and courageous fight with Pancreatic Cancer. This was Leroys second fight with cancer, having survived the first go around some 40 years ago. Leroy was born on October 22, 1943 to Earl F. Songer and Violet P. Liptrap Songer in North-Platte, Nebraska. The family later moved to Utah in 1954. Leroy worked selling newspapers on the street corners in Ogden when he was very young. Early on, he worked as a cook at Als Greenwell, then at Weir Motor Repair in Ogden for a few years, before settling into meat cutting at Wilson Corp. for many years. Leroy married Patricia L. Christianson in 1964. They had two daughters and one son. They later divorced in 1973. Leroy is survived by his son, Earl L. Songer of Ogden, UT; his two estranged daughters; four grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Alene) Songer of Sunset, UT; sisters, Sharon (Robert) Clark of Riverdale, UT, Caroline (Randy) Edwards of Clearfield, UT and Milly Ann (Pat) Ryan of Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two sisters; and four nephews. The family would like to thank Shannon, Michelle, Tonya and Tom who are staff members of Symbii Hospice Company for the loving and emotional care and support they gave our brother in these final days. We are thankful to Earl Songer for making it possible for Leroy to do so much this last summer. Leroy loved his outings with a passion.
