Linda Lou Smith Child's Obituary

Our loving mother, Linda Lou Smith Child, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon at her home in Clinton, Utah. She was surrounded by her family and loving husband. She was born in Springville, Utah. She attended Weber High and Brigham Young University in Education, and later earned her Masters at Weber State University. She married her sweetheart Ray Child in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 2, 1958 and had five children. She taught music for Davis County School District for 31 years, mostly in Clinton and other surrounding schools. She taught private violin lessons at her home for over 50 years. Her love for music allowed her to serve our Heavenly Father at weddings, ward dinners, musical programs, sacrament meetings as well as funerals. She started and managed the Utah Old Timers Fiddlers Association. She loved to travel to Israel and many countries. She loved to read books and cook authentic foreign meals. She loved to do genealogy and family history. She was often heard saying Ray is cultivated, but I am cultured. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She spent her life teaching others to play the violin and always willing to freely serve and share her talents. She is survived by her husband Ray E. Child and her brother, Steven Smith. She is also survived by her five children: David (Lori-deceased), Cherilyn (Dan), Cindy (Brent), Ron (Shalyn) and Jamie. At the time of her death she had 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
