Obituary

Lois Grace Miller Beckstead1917-2011Riverdale- Lois Beckstead, 93, passed away peacefully in the home she was so proud of on Tuesday, February 15, 2011.She was born April 21, 1917 in Corinne, Utah, daughter of Chancey Miller and Louisa Law. She was the 7th of 12 children and often told stories about the wonderful years growing up with her siblings, and always with loving memories of her parents. Mom married dad, Ray M. Beckstead on February 17, 1934. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple and together they had five children, Darrell (deceased) Carolyn, LaVerl, Geraldine (deceased) and Eileen. Dad passed away in 1984 shortly after their 60th wedding anniversary. Mom worked at the Cannery in Ogden, was a cook at the elementary school in South Ogden for many years, and retired from the Defense Depot Ogden. No matter where mom went she always took the time to meet people, she would often mention how many wonderful people there was in the world and never went anywhere that she didnt exchange a kind word to someone. She was an extraordinary woman who placed others first and devoted herself to her family, always making her home the center of love. Her home and yard were her pride and joy, she loved working in her yard and took great pride in her beautiful flower beds, and when it came time to trim the shrubs, trees or rose bushes you couldnt hold a candle to her, it wasnt until she was in her 90s that she reluctantly had to give it up. Her life was an adventure raising five children but she did it with a smile. Mom we love you.She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Glade) Hirschi, LaVerl Beckstead, Eileen (Tim) Wells, and Aunt Ruth Vandenarend and many grandchildren, great and even great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
