Obituary

Our angel mother and grandmother Lois Jeanne Leavitt Brown, 94, returned peacefully to her Father in Heaven on August 31, 2016. She was born the ninth of ten children to LeRoy H. Leavitt and Ella Linderman on March 27, 1922 in Ogden, Utah. Lois graduated from the new Ogden High School in 1940 and attended Weber College. She married her best friend and sweetheart, L. Cecil Brown on September 21, 1944. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 3, 1952. Together they raised five children. She did all of the bookkeeping for Cecils auto repair shop. Cec passed away on January 26, 1991. Lois lived a life of service. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings throughout her life, mainly the primary. Every child in the area knew Sister Brown and waited patiently for their hug from her. She loved everyone she met and they loved her right back. She cherished her 18 years of service as a temple worker in the Ogden Temple. She loved spending time with her family, especially the many years of trips to Bear Lake. She raised beautiful flowers and could give life to the smallest struggling plant. Music was a source of joy for Lois, and she could play anything on the piano entertaining family and friends until her last days. Lois loved each member of her family as if they were her favorite. Her laugh was constant and contagious. She had a gift for unconditional acceptance of those she met, and she taught her family to be loyal and supportive to all. No one loved a party more than Lois even up until the last day of her life when she refused to leave until the party was over. Lois is survived by her five children: Mary Jean (Michael, deceased) Leatham, Nancy Wood, Susan (Stephen) Smith, Jeffrey (Colleen) Brown, and Peggy (Kevin) Warren. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law, great-grandson, and 9 brothers and sisters: Roy Leavitt, Alice Hunt, Florence McCown, Wayne Leavitt, Ruth Morton, June Stone, Mary Austad, Lewis Leavitt (stillborn), and Thomas T. Leavitt. The family would like to thank Quail Meadow Assisted Living for their kind and loving care of our mother.
